Photo Exhibition On Human Rights Defenders For PBI 25th Anniversary

Peace Brigades International recruits international volunteers who, when invited, accompany human rights workers in Colombia, Guatemala, Mexico, Nepal and Indonesia and promote non-violent transformation of conflicts. The volunteers’ presence alerts those who pose a threat to human rights workers that their actions will not go unnoticed. PBI is celebrating twenty five years of existence with a photo exhibition, which will focus on “the reality faced by human rights defenders and people in local communities who strive to build lasting peace and the volunteers who accompany them to keep them alive.”

There will be a preview at the Subway Gallery in London from 6-9pm on August 7; the exhibition will then run from 8 – 31 August.

Aside from volunteering to accompany human rights workers, PBI needs volunteers to serve as members of the Emergency Response Network and also to help with outreach and public relations. Find out more at the PBI main site.
