Travel To Teach: Profile And News
By Kate | Permalink | No Comments | March 8th, 2007 | TrackbackTravel to Teach (T2T) places interested participants into voluntary teaching positions in a number of countries worldwide. There is a cost associated with the project; see the link in the Thailand section for an example of the training provided for free and available for a fee there. Also see the TEFL Logue profile of Travel To Teach for more of my take on Travel to Teach.
The February T2T newsletter includes an update about their new projects in Nepal (some positions involve teaching at orphanages), a celebration announcement of their four-year anniversary as well as information on their plan to develop a volunteer program for older (over-50) volunteers.
There’s also a new volunteer story from a young woman who spent two weeks as on an organic farm in Hanoi, Vietnam; why not also check out the story from T2T’s very first volunteer, in Thailand – a retired firefighter who taught English.
Another interesting is the resource is the video diary: pretty cool. You can view two set-to-music videos from Thailand and find contact information for the volunteers featured in them. As someone who has taught kids in Eastern Europe – albeit briefly, and I haven’t even been to Thailand - I still can’t in good conscience avoid pointing out that there are only ten-second or so long clips of the kids in the class…I would expect at least a bit more rowdiness than we see!
