A link to The Nonprofiteer recently appeared in my inbox, via a Google news update, and with a volunteer version of a Dear Abby question: one volunteer found that after a summer sabbatical, her name was removed from the volunteer luncheon list. In fact I somehow came across The Nonprofiteer some time ago; although it is not devoted solely to the topic of volunteering, but rather the non-profit field as a whole, it features a variety of interesting information and insight which I think will appeal to many with an interest in volunteering. Written by a lawyer/freelance journalist with extensive non-profit experience (that’s one person), much of it in Chicago, The Nonprofiteer has information on poverty (there are more people in the US living under the poverty line now than during the last period considered a recession), politicians, and businesses trying to do social good. I believe that thinking critically in this field is, well, critical, and I enjoy reading well-thought out analysis, even if I don’t necessarily agree with all of it.
