Volunteer Gear: Invisible Armor Hand Sanitizer
By Kate | Permalink | No Comments | June 3rd, 2007 | TrackbackMost of us have at least heard of ailments such as Montezuma’s revenge, Delhi belly, and so on, which regularly afflict travelers. Most of us have also heard that when you are regularly exposed to some germs, you aren’t affected as much or at all by them – but when they are totally new you, that’s when the trouble starts. And of course there are some germs that make people sick all the time, all over the place, such as Staph and Shigella (that’s the bacteria that causes…Shigellosis). If you don’t know what these are – be happy you haven’t had to find out!
The Volunteer Logue was recently alerted to a new product that travelers of all kinds can use to fight germs like these and ideally avoid illness. It’s called Invisible Armor and it’s an alcohol-free antibacterial skin lotion and protector. I’ve never used it myself, but it’s hard to go wrong with something that helps you avoid getting sick and lasts a long time.
Here’s how it works: in contrast to many other hand sanitizers which are alcohol-based and evaporate after 15-30 seconds (leaving you once again susceptible to germs), Invisible Armor provides four hours of protection, even with repeated hand washings.
The Invisible Armor is also said to have helped protect relief workers from germs and bacteria after hurricanes Rita and Katrina and the 2004 Tsunami.
If you’d like to know more, visit the Invisible Armor website – and keep an eye out for my favorite CNN personality, Richard Quest, with a segment on it in July.
